With deep love and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Ysmael Serna, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and cherished friend.
Born in Zacatecas, Mexico, he came to the United States with his beloved wife and their young children in pursuit of a better life. Through hard work, sacrifice, and determination, he built a life and legacy that his family will carry with them forever. He was a longtime resident of Duarte, California, where he made his home for more than 50 years. He spent more than 30 years working in a blue-collar profession, taking pride in providing for and caring for his family.
He was a man of honesty, faith, and integrity. He lived his life with strong values and never hesitated to share his wisdom or offer a piece of advice. His words often carried the kind of simple, honest truth that stayed with you long after the conversation ended. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a way of bringing laughter and warmth to those around him.
He enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, especially spending time with his family. He loved going to the casino, playing scratchers, and watching his beloved Dodgers. These moments may have seemed ordinary, but they are now among the memories his family will treasure most.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Enedina Serna, with whom he shared over 32 years of love, family, and memories. Though their loss leaves an immeasurable void, the love they built together continues through the family they created.
He leaves behind his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, all of whom will carry a piece of him in their hearts. His lessons, his laughter, his faith, his stories, and his unwavering example will continue to guide the generations that follow.
He was a man who worked hard, loved deeply, believed faithfully, and gave generously of his wisdom. He will be missed more than words can express, but his memory will live on through the many lives he touched.
Rest peacefully, Papi Ysmael. Thank you for the love, the laughter, the lessons, and the beautiful legacy you leave behind. You will be dearly missed and forever loved.
