Yong Kim

Yong Kim, a beloved pastor, dedicated leader, and influential figure in the Presbyterian Church (USA), passed away peacefully on September 7 2024, in Monrovia, at the age of 88. Born on December 23, 1935, in, South Korea, Yong's journey was marked by faith, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to his community.

A proud graduate of Princeton Theological Seminary, Yong Kim used his education to inspire and uplift those around him. His remarkable preaching skills made him an amazing pastor, capable of reaching the hearts of his congregation with deep wisdom and genuine love. As a loving pastoral counselor, he was known for his ability to listen and offer support, providing guidance to countless individuals in their times of need.

Throughout his illustrious career, he achieved notable milestones, including building a thriving megachurch in New Jersey that became a spiritual haven for many. His impactful work in the church did not go unnoticed, as he was invited to the White House by President Clinton, recognizing his contributions to the community and his dedication to fostering faith.

Yong is survived by his loving wife, Ik Ja Kim, who stood by him through every endeavor, and their children, YoHan Kim and Mary Gorup. His family, along with a multitude of congregants, friends, and admirers, will forever cherish the rich tapestry of love and service that he wove throughout his life.

As a faithful pastor who touched innumerable lives, Yong Kim’s legacy will continue to inspire others to follow in his footsteps of kindness, strength, and devotion to faith and family. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will endure in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
