Winifred Mae Emslie

Winifred "Freddie" Mae (Scott) Emslie, 94, born on July 20, 1927, in Long Beach, CA, passed away February 25, 2022. She resided in Arcadia, CA at the time of her passing, surrounded by her loving family. She was predeceased by her parents, Erle William Scott and Ella Mae (Collings) Scott, her husband, Gordon Emslie, and her brother Erle Wendell Scott. She is survived by her daughter, Colleen Emslie Mitchell, granddaughters Lucinda and Elizabeth Mitchell, grandson Jeffrey Mitchell, and great-grandchildren Jac, Sawyer, and Charlotte Mitchell. Freddie and Gordon were fiercely proud of their Scottish heritage and were founding members of the South Pacific chapter of Clan Donald. The family remembers Grandma Freddie, a native and long-term resident of Long Beach, as a faithful, spirited, and independent woman, who loved spending time with family, taking photographs—especially of her grandchildren, and who always appreciated a great piece of costume jewelry and a fetching hat. Arrangements are under the direction of Douglass & Zook Funeral and Cremation Services, Monrovia, California. A chapel service will be held Friday, March 25, 2022, at 1pm at Douglass & Zook Funeral Home, followed by a private internment service at Riverside National Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved Gordon.
