William "John" Lynch

October 9, 1952 - September 14, 2023

John was born in Bremerhaven, Germany on a military base.  He was the only child of William Dean Lynch and Patricia Joan Lynch.  The family settled in Chula Vista, California where he attended Castle Park High School graduating in 1970.  John attended Cal Poly Pomona (class of 1976) where he enjoyed every minute of the experience and met the love of his life Barbara Ehret.  John and Barbara were happily married for 46 years and 4 days.

He made many lifelong friends throughout all phases of his life. John chose to go back to college to obtain his Master's degree in Public Administration graduating in 1990 from the University of La Verne. He worked in the field of Urban Planning working for many cities as well as the private sector over the span of his career. John's many passions included writing poems and short stories, camping in the desert (trying to outdo the burning man bonfire every night), off-roading with family and friends, and anything trains. He was also a history buff and could chat up anyone with any detail of any war that ever was.  This also led him to joining the Clamper's (E Clampus Vitus-a historically absurd secret society).

Restoring Historical homes was a job that he never retired from. He loved the City of Monrovia and enjoyed living there for 47 years.

He is survived by his wife Barbara who loved him very much, son Adam and his daughter in-law Brittany and grandchildren Elinor and Carson, son Cale and his loving partner Jessica, who were always there to celebrate the good times.

"If ever in the desert where the trains will glide

Honk your horn, ring a bell with a smile on your face

You have entered my space in heaven as trains mark the place

Wave at the engineer with your little one on your knee

When you hear the horn blasting it maybe just maybe might be me"

We celebrate his life and will miss him forever.
