William Reed Harmon

March 23, 1939 — June 19, 2011

William Reed Harmon March 23, 1939 — June 19, 2011 William Reed Harmon, 72, known by all as “Bill,” was loved for his compassion and friendship to many. A practicing attorney in Pasadena for more than 40 years, he enjoyed his chosen career and devoted himself to his practice. He was honest in all his dealings with clients and friends, treating each of his cases equally well. Born in Annapolis, Bill moved about the country with his beloved mother and father, a Navy captain. He graduated from John Carroll University in Cleveland, where he met many of his greatest friends. He later graduated from Loyola Law School Los Angeles, where he continued to make lifelong friends. Bill was a good soldier and he was proud to have served. He fought his illness with every round of ammunition offered him. He did not go gentle into that good night, but raged against the dying of the light. In his personal life, Bill was often shy in crowds, but he chatted more easily on a one-on-one basis. He made friends in many places and was known to always have something to eat and drink at the house, much like the Loyola motto “lobo y olla” – the wolf and the pot. He became a “backyard farmer” and enjoyed watching his green beans climb and his tomatoes ripen, but he took the most pleasure out of watching his children and grandchildren grow and mature. Bill was dearly loved by his wife, Ann; their three children, Bill (Jodi), Mary Ann (Michael Thomas), and Susan (Travis Rodgers); and nine grandchildren: Patrick Thomas, Bobby Rodgers, Will Harmon, Nathan Thomas, Layton Harmon, Kelly Rodgers, Matthew Thomas, Michael Rodgers, and Amaya Harmon. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. June 30 at St. Rita Catholic Church in Sierra Madre. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to a student scholarship fund at John Carroll University http://www.jcu.edu/waystogive.htm?utm_source=web&utm_medium=web&utm_content=Give%2Bto%20JCU&utm_campaign=JCU_HP_GiveToJCU_Link Loyola Law School Los Angeles http://alumni.lls.edu/giving/ or Loyola Marymount University, http://www.lmu.edu/giving.htm
