Wallace Lyle Reid

December 24, 1921 — August 16, 2020

Wallace Lyle Reid, adoring father, loved by all who knew him, passed away Sunday evening, August 16, 2020. Wally was born on December 24, 1921. A Christmas Eve baby and what a gift he was.

Small in stature but a giant of a man with a magical smile, impossible to resist. His mission was to serve and he did so with thoughtfulness, kindness, and with a generous spirit. Mild and gentle, he gave his love unconditionally. He served the Lord and his fellowman.

Wally served in the United States Navy in Hawaii during World War II, under the command of Admiral Nimitz and Admiral Calhoun. His assignment was the Top Secret planning for the invasion of the Mariana Islands, then occupied by the Japanese. Pressure was intense and the hours long. It took him many years before he was able to talk about the war.

His passion was golf and he was very proud of his 3 holes in one. He had a green thumb and loved his garden. No one grew roses like Wally.

We walked in his sunshine while we had him, and our hearts will continue to carry him with us forever, but somehow the world feels less lovely without him.

Wally lived in Hacienda Heights CA for 60 years. He was a devoted member of the Mormon Church.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Grace Allphin, and is survived by his two daughters, Robin and Jeff Galli, Taunee and Fred Callahan, as well as four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He has shed his earthly bonds and now resides in his new Universal spot where he will comfortingly reveal himself to you in amazing ways. He is indeed free at last, for which he surely thanks his God Almighty
