Vern Smith Bullington passed away peacefully with family by his side on Monday, December 10, 2012. He had been born in South Dakota on June 17, 1925 and has lived in Duarte, California since 1949. Vern’s bright positive personality touched everyone he knew, and his easy going nature was an added benefit in his insurance work for Prudential for over twenty five years, where he worked as an insurance broker in life and health insurance. He was also passionate about fishing and loved casting his line anytime he could. Vern was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He is survived by his wife of 65 beautiful years, Doris; daughter’s, Janice (Lily) Umina & husband, Archie Umina, and Brenda Bullington & husband, Jeff Schoettgen; six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, along with nieces nephews and wonderful close friends. Vern was preceded in death by son, Smith Bullington, and granddaughter, Lisa Moore. -- He lived a wonderful life and will be missed greatly. A Memorial Service at the Duarte Elks Lodge at 2436 E. Huntington Dr. in Duarte will be held at 2:00 PM on Jan 19, 2013. In lieu of flowers the family would prefer donations in his memory to be given to Duarte Elks Club, Phone: (626) 357-6771.
