Vera Altomare Mecca, born August 14, 1918, at nearly age 91, Vera passed from this life July 28, 2009. During her time here she relished the good days of family and friend s, her children, her garden, and her job. She spent most of her life mothering people; she was a second mother to her sister, Joanie, as well as to Joanie’s son , Gregory, when Joan passed away at an early age. She was also a surrogate mom to every friend her son and daughter ever brought home, sharing her house, her kitchen, and her caring. Having struggled against the tide of declining health for 10 years, the end of her life came as she would want it: peacefully and privately. She is survived by her son, daughter, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, sister Florence DeLuca, and brothers Ralph Altomare, Rex Altomare.
