SIVIGLIANO - Salvatore (Sam) was born on August 1, 1917 in Kansas City, Missouri. He was the last of seven children born to Salvatore and Antonia Sivigliano. He died on March 21, 2011 in his home with family members at his side. During his late teen years he served in the CCC during the Great Depression. In 1940 he married the love of his life, Dorothy, and spent his working years primarily in the construction field. He built many homes over the years, including ones for his growing family and one for his brother. For a few years he was the successful owner of Sam’s Corner Tavern, a bar and grill located in Bemidji, Minnesota. In his younger years he was an avid bowler, and was an active member of the Knights of Columbus. He proudly served his country in the Army during World War II. He was preceded in death by Dorothy, his wife of 67 years, and all of his siblings. He is survived by his five children, Daniel (Cheryl), Carol, Mary Koviak, Patricia (Frank), and Samuel Stephen. He leaves 18 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation hours beginning at 5:00 PM on Friday, March 25, and a Vigil Service at 7:00 PM will both be held at the Douglass & Zook Chapel of Remembrance Funeral Home in Monrovia (626-358-3244). Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM on Saturday will be celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church in Monrovia.
