Ruben Martinez Gonzalez, born in the small town of Ixtlahuacán del Río, Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, on September 10, 1935, was the cherished son of María Santos González Torres and Martín Martínez Ramírez. The fifth of nine children, Ruben’s early years were shaped by the loss of his mother during childbirth, a tragedy that bonded him closely with his siblings: Rosario, Anita, Hipólito, Esperanza, Felipe, Abigail, Eliseo, and Maria Santos.

At the age of 13, Ruben immigrated to the United States, joining his brother Hipólito in search of a brighter future. In Los Angeles, he met and married Aurora García Benavidez on April 28, 1962. Together, they raised four daughters: María Elena, Gloria, Sonia, and Deanna Erika, creating a home filled with love, laughter, and faith.

Ruben dedicated his working years to Vons, retiring from the bakery after over 30 years. A man of many interests, he found joy in gardening, real estate, and swimming. His love for family extended deeply to his grandchildren: Rafael Iván Hernández, Gabriel Adam Hernández, Christian Rubén Villegas, Krista Reyna Villegas, Robert Michael Remedios, Daniel Remedios, Briana Sofía Remedios, Nayeli Xóchitl Ehekatl Martínez, Nikolas Cipaktli Martínez, and Noe Nahuali Martínez. He was also blessed with three great-granddaughters: Adelaide, Anneke, and Aurora Hernández.

Ruben passed away peacefully on October 16, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and perseverance. His memory will forever be treasured by all who had the honor of knowing him.

Ruben Martínez González, nacido en el pequeño pueblo de Ixtlahuacán del Río, Guadalajara, Jalisco, México, el 10 de septiembre de 1935, fue el querido hijo de María Santos González Torres y Martín Martínez Ramírez. El quinto de nueve hermanos, la infancia de Rubén estuvo marcada por la pérdida de su madre durante el parto, una tragedia que lo unió profundamente a sus hermanos: Rosario, Anita, Hipólito, Esperanza, Felipe, Abigail, Eliseo y Maria Santos.

A los 13 años, Rubén emigró a los Estados Unidos, uniéndose a su hermano Hipólito en busca de un futuro más prometedor. En Los Ángeles, conoció y se casó con Aurora García Benavidez el 28 de abril de 1962. Juntos, criaron a cuatro hijas: María Elena, Gloria, Sonia y Deanna Erika, construyendo un hogar lleno de amor, risas y fe.

Rubén dedicó sus años de trabajo a Vons por mas de 30 años. Hombre de muchos intereses, encontraba alegría en la jardinería, real estate y la natación. Su amor por la familia se extendía profundamente hacia sus nietos: Rafael Iván Hernández, Gabriel Adam Hernández, Christian Rubén Villegas, Krista Reyna Villegas, Robert Michael Remedios, Daniel Remedios, Briana Sofía Remedios, Nayeli Xóchitl Ehekatl Martínez, Nikolas Cipaktli Martínez y Noe Nahuali Martínez. También fue bendecido con tres bisnietas: Adelaide, Anneke y Aurora Hernández.

Rubén falleció pacíficamente el 16 de octubre de 2024, dejando un legado de amor, fortaleza y perseverancia. Su recuerdo será atesorado para siempre por todos los que tuvieron el honor de conocerlo.
