Robert Stevenson Naramore

Robert Stevenson (Bob) Naramore, 88, longtime resident of Monrovia, passed away on April 23, 2012 in La Verne, California. Born to Ralph E. and Idella Healey Naramore in Penryn, California on August 13, 1923, Bob was the youngest of four children. Bob served in the U.S. Navy during World War II on the communications ship the U.S. S. Estes in the Pacific theater. His Navy service took him to China, the Philippines, Guam, and Hawaii. After the war, he graduated from U.C. Berkeley Department of Forestry and worked in Yosemite National Park, where he met and married Margery Kennedy. Bob loved the outdoors, hiking, and most particularly fly fishing in the eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains. Bob was a retiree of the Southern California Gas Company. He was able to take an early retirement and concentrate on his true avocation, woodcarving. He was a prolific and generous artist, and his wildlife carvings are displayed in the homes of his many friends and relatives. Bob was an active member of the California Carvers Guild and the Elks Club. He was preceded in death by wife Selma B. (Betty) Naramore, sister Corinne Naramore Lague and brother Edward Naramore. His is survived by his daughter Robyn Naramore and her partner Beth Walsh of Claremont, CA; sister Rowena Ostermann of Sacramento, CA and many nieces, nephews, step-children, step-grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bob will be interred in Newcastle Cemetery in Northern California. Services will be private. Donations may be made in his memory to Alzheimer's Association, P.O.
