Robert McCreary, was born on January 28, 1931, in Bridgeport, Ohio to Francis and Angela McCreary.  His siblings were older brothers Bill (Mac) and Don and younger sister Margaret Dean.  All went to St. Anthony's Catholic grade school down the hill from the family home where, in the 8th grade, Bob would be seated in front of the girl who would eventually become his bride, Barbara Varvarosky.  Bob graduated from Central Catholic High School in Wheeling, West Virginia & spent a short time at West Liberty College before being sent by the army to Korea where he installed telecommunications, leading Korean troops in the endeavor.  After completing his tour of duty he returned to Ohio where he & Barbara were married in 1954, heading west to California on their honeymoon (joining Mac & his wife Phyllis who had already arrived).  Bob started work at General Telephone, where he would remain until his retirement, as a line installer eventually attending college at night to earn his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.  Along the way, he and Barbara had daughters, Fran, Holly & Mary and sons Matt & Dan.  Work promotions would take the family to Tampa, FL,  Madison, WI & back to California.  Upon retirement, Bob and Barb lived in Oceanside, CA until her death at which time Bob moved to Monrovia, CA.  A devout Catholic, Bob attended daily Mass at Mission San Luis Rey in Oceanside and Immaculate Conception in Monrovia and was an active volunteer at Mission San Luis Rey.  At the time of his death, Bob was residing in Duarte at Santa Teresita Assisted Living .  Bob was preceded in death by his wife Barbara, son Matthew, parents and siblings.  He is survived by children Fran, Holly (Ron), Dan (Margaret) & Mary, grandchildren Shannon, Haley, Will, Luke, Rachael, & Aidan and great grandchildren Hattie & Kennie.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Bob's name to:  Santa Teresita Assisted Living, 819 Buena Vista St., Duarte, CA 91010.
