Robert G. Mcallister

Robert (Bob) G. McAllister passed away peacefully on February 5, 2016 in his home in Monrovia, CA. He was born in rural Arkansas on August 21, 1919, the youngest child of John and Cynthia McAllister. He was proceeded in death by all of his siblings. His loving wife, June, passed away in 2008. Bob left school, after the eighth grade, to help support his family during the Great Depression. After marrying, he brought his wife and son to California and found work in the defense industry in 1941. He served in the Army in the late 1940's. He was a proud Teamster and worked most of his life as a truck driver for Meadow Gold Dairies. Bob and June were thrifty savers and increased their fortunes investing in real estate. They helped many relatives and friends purchase their own homes over the decades. They were admired and loved by neighbors, friends, and relatives for their ever warm hospitality and good humor. He will be missed for his cheery greetings to friends and folks just walking by his front porch, where spontaneous neighborhood gatherings were common on warm evenings. After a private family funeral, he will rest beside his beloved wife in the Live Oak Cemetery in Monrovia. He is survived by his son Michael, his wife Kelly, two grandsons, Mike and Colin, and four great-grandchildren, all of whom live in Oregon. He will be dearly missed by his brother-in-law Bryant Holloway and his wife Joyce of Monrovia, California.
