Rebecca Hooks

Rebecca “Becky” Allen Hooks was called to heaven January 19, 2011 on a bright, glorious desert morning in Palm Springs, CA. Becky was born to the union of the late Colonel Allen & Mattie Mosley of South River, NJ on April 8, 1926. She graduated from South River High School and completed night school business courses in New Brunswick, NJ. She later continued her education with classes at Citrus College and Pasadena City College. She met and married Todd Forrest Hooks in 1947 and they made their home in Monrovia, CA. They were blessed with two sons, Rodney Allen & Todd Gordon Hooks. Becky worked for the Monrovia Unified School District for 22 years in various positions and retired in June 1987 as a District Media Technician. She was also an active member of the Second Baptist Church of Monrovia from 1948 singing in the Cathedral Choir, Sanctuary Choir, and The William Dillard Chorale. She had been a teacher in the church education department and served for several years as the church school statistician; a member of the Welcome & Hospitality Ministry, and most recently she served as the Co-Chair of the Second Baptist 100th Anniversary Committee. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Todd Forrest Hooks. She is survived by her sons; her daughter-in-law, Theresa Hooks; grandchildren, Meghan Elyse, Leighland August & Ariana Marie Hooks; sister–in-law, Dora Hooks; niece, Deborah Hooks; nephews, David & Calvin Harris and Arnett & Cecil Hooks, and numerous grand nieces and nephews. Services at the Second Baptist Church in Monrovia on Friday, January 28 will begin at 10 AM with interment at Live Oak Memorial Park.
