The Lord called Raymond Charles Tangney, Jr. to his place in Eternal Heaven on June 13, 2022. He died peacefully at home in Arcadia, CA, age 88.

A Celebration of Life Mass is planned for Friday June 24, 2022, 10:00 a.m. at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Arcadia. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of the Douglas and Zook Funeral Home, with Commitment on Monday June 27, 10:00 a.m. at Riverside Natl Cemetery.

Ray was born in Omaha, NE on Nov 20, 1933 to Raymond Sr. and Rose Rotter Tangney. He graduated Creighton Prep in 1951 and went to work at the family's Ideal Potato Chip Company. He married Marlene Schlueter on June 14, 1953 in Blair, NE shortly before the Army sent him to boot camp, then Austria. He was honorably discharged as a Sergeant in 1955.

He began employment with the U.S. Post Office in Nov 1955, later attending Omaha University, and entering the Postal Inspection Service in 1966. His PODs were Mankato, MN, Hastings and Lincoln, NE, Kansas City, and Los Angeles, retiring in 1988. He continued his investigations work for 10 more years at Geico Insurance.

On May 25, 1996, Ray married his loving companion Alice Greenwell Short in Arcadia. Together they enjoyed 23 years of devoted love until her passing in 2019.

Ray was active in his Catholic Church, the National Assn of Retired Postal Inspectors, and as a volunteer reserve with the Arcadia Police Department.

He was preceded in death by wife Alice, his parents, three sisters, Alice Thull, Betty Ann Wiedemeier, and Eleanore Furey.

He is survived by his children: Tom of Murphy, TX, Mike (Julie) of Omaha, NE, Gerry (Nancy) of Olathe, KS, and Teresa Bosque (Jesse) of Whittier, CA, step-children: Sue Stewart (Dave) of Satellite Beach, FL, Jeff Short (Cindi) of Austin, TX, John Short (Lisa) of Villa Park, CA, and Sarah Plascencia (Armando) of Nashville, TN. Also survived by Marlene Armendariz of Elkhorn, NE, 22 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and good friends.
