Raymond Edward Kubacki, 80, born on May 22, 1945, in Rochester, NY to Isadore and Caroline Kubacki. When he was a toddler his parents moved to California. Raymond was raised in Altadena and attended St. Francis High School in La Canada where he played tennis and played trumpet in the band. One of his happiest memories was playing his trumpet and marching in the Rose Parade. He went to college at Seattle University in Washington State but couldn’t take all the rain so headed backed to Southern California and completed his Bachelor’s degree at Cal. State Los Angeles. He worked in his father’s business as a painting contractor. Ray enjoyed sports including water skiing, tennis. …In his later years he watched weekly Sunday football with his longtime friend, Jim. Ray had a pilot’s license and loved flying his plane to many places including Las Vegas and Catalina. He was also a skipper on his boat the Sweet Caroline, named after his mother. When Ray moved to Long Beach in his later years he enjoyed spending Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays with his aunt Barbara and cousins Sharon, Carolyn, Mary and their families. Ray loved See’s candy and always brought it as a gift!
He passed away February 12, 2026 following a hospitalization in Jan. 2026 due to serious health issues.
Arrangements are under the care of Douglass & Zook Funeral and Cremation Services, Monrovia, CA.
