Life Reflections of Pauline Lane Pauline Lane was born in Danville, Georgia on March 11, 1910. She was the second child born to the union of Henry and Clara Deadwyler. Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, her oldest sister, Zulene and brother, Milton. Pauline grew up in Athens, Georgia, where she worked as a cook and Nanny for a Georgia family. Pauline accepted Christ in 1925 where she became a mem-ber of Ebenezer Baptist Church at the age of 15. Later, she moved to Atlanta, Georgia with her mother. Finally settling in Cleveland, Ohio, she joined Second Mount Carmel Baptist Church. As one of the founding members of the gospel quar-tet, “The Bright Stars”, Pauline toured Cleveland and neighboring cities for over 37 years as a lead singer. In 1953, Pauline met and married Clarence Lane who pre-ceded her in death. To this union, no children were born. She helped to raise her brother, Milton Deadwyler’s children; Harvey Deadwyler (deceased), Clarice Byrd, Geraldine Cole-man (deceased), and Jerome Deadwyler. She also raised her God son, Jake Hipps. Pauline retired from the Cleveland Board of Education as a Custodian for Addison Junior High School. In 1975, she moved to Monrovia, California. She joined Second Baptist Church and became active in the community. In 1991, her mother Clara, passed away at the age of One Hundred and Eight (108). In 2002, Pauline relocated to Cleveland, Ohio where she resided at the Gateway Retirement Home. On June 18, 2010 at 7:22 a.m., Pauline answered her heavenly Fathers call. She leaves to cherish her memory, a Niece, Clarice Byrd, Nephew, Jerome Deadwyler, God Son, Jake Hipps, Great Nieces and Nephews, Tawanna Byrd, Linda Pritchett, Sheldon Byrd, Harvey Dum Dum. Yvonne Dead-wyler, Anita Coleman, Eric Coleman and a host of family and friends. Graveside Services at 2 PM on Monday, June 28 will be held at Live Oak Memorial Park, 200 E. Duarte Rd. in Monrovia. Care entrusted to the Douglass & Zook Chapel of Remembrance Funeral Home in Monrovia (626) 358-3244.
