Paula Jewell Walker

Paula Jewell Jones Walker died peacefully in her sleep on March 24 2012, after a long illness. Paula was born on her Mother's birthday, March 27th 1922. She was the 11th child of 13 born to Lorenza and Maud Jones of Leedy OK. Paula is pre-deceased by her husband Robert and youngest son Paul. Paula met her husband in Oklahoma and after they married in 1942 they spent the next 55 years together. Paula and her husband Robert moved to southern California where they raised their family. Paula managed her husbands construction business and also worked for the Southern California Gas Company. Paula believed strongly in the value of education and over a 20 year time period she achieved a BA in Business from California State University Los Angeles. She began work as an executive secretary and after receiving her degree was promoted to the executive level. She enjoyed a long and productive professional life and retired after more than 20 years of work. In her spare time, Paula enjoyed the social time spent with her sisters while they made family quilts. Paula also made a tradition of presenting her grandchildren with a hand crocheted afghan at high school graduation time. She spent hours reading and loved that she could still beat her grown children at scrabble well after she turned 80! Paula is survived by her four children; Robert Jr., Samuel, Virginia Miriam, and Laurence, as well as 19 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Paula was a loving mother and friend. She will be missed.
