Paul Forsee

September 29, 1935 — November 8, 2025

Pasadena

Paul Don Forsee was born on September 29, 1935, to George and Hazel (Smith) Forsee. He entered this world at the family home, located at 708 Missouri Street in Artesia, New Mexico. He was the youngest of five children. The Nazarene Church his family attended was located on the same street, and on the night of Paul’s birth, his siblings stayed with the pastor and his wife—a reflection of the close-knit faith community that shaped his life from the very beginning.

While Paul was still a baby, the family moved to Roswell, New Mexico where the family faithfully attended the local Nazarene church. Around 1940, the family moved to Eagle Rock, California. Paul attended kindergarten at Dahlia Heights Elementary School, where he once famously ditched school, a story that became a fond family memory. After settling in California, the family joined Pasadena First Church of the Nazarene on Raymond Avenue.

In 1941, the family moved to 1412 N. Sinaloa Avenue, near Pasadena Nazarene College, an institution that would later play a significant role in Paul’s life. He attended Webster Elementary School, Marshall Junior High School, and Pasadena Junior College. In his last year, he transferred to Pasadena Academy to play on their basketball and graduate. Paul went on to earn both his Bachelor of Arts and Master’s degrees from Pasadena/Point Loma Nazarene College.

As a professional, Paul dedicated his work life to the field of education. He made the pivotal decision to leave the manager training program in a grocery store chain to pursue his teaching credential. Paul became immersed in the education and development of programs for children with special needs. He served in the special education environment in Monrovia, Burbank and finally retired as the Director of Special Education from Ontario-Montclair School District in the early 1990s. Post retirement Paul worked as an adjunct professor at the Arcadia satellite campus for the Point Loma Nazarene University teacher credentialing and Masters programs. His guidance and influence on future educators at the time continues to positively permeate the San Gabriel Valley area.

Paul was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and faithful servant of the Church. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Joyce; his three children, Vikki, Leane, and Brent; his three cherished grandchildren, Averie, Everly, and Sierra (known lovingly as “Pop”) sister Edna and multiple generations of nieces and nephews. Paul will be missed by family and friends and leaves them with a lasting blanket of love, joy, wisdom and faith to remember him by.

Paul will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to his family, his enthusiastic support of his children’s and grandchildren’s interests, and his lifelong faithfulness and leadership within the Nazarene Church. His legacy of love, faith, and dedication will live on in all who knew him.

Services for Paul will be held in Lee Chapel on March 21st 2026 at 11:00 am at First Church of the Nazarene in Pasadena 3700 Sierra Madre Blvd. In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to be considered for Paz Naz Oasis special needs ministry.
