Nora Ordonez Tana, affectionately known as Noyie, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of October 5, 2023, after years of courageous battle with cancer. She was born to Rene Ordonez and Natividad Gonzaga on July 13, 1956.
Noyie grew up in Cavite City, Philippines with her nine siblings. She was easily recognizable with her trademark curly hair. With her older sister, she helped their mother run the busy and active Ordonez household. Noyie herself was soft-spoken and quiet.
She graduated from Cavite National High School in 1973 and went on to receive her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Marian College of Nursing, Manila Philippines in 1978. She worked as a Labor and Delivery nurse at Garfield Medical Center for many years until her retirement in 2019.
Noyie met the love of her life, Antonio, and married him in 1986. She was a devoted, affectionate wife, and they had a blissful married life in their home until her passing. Tony will surely miss her and will always think about her and their time together.
Although reserved in nature, Noyie was fun-loving. She loved to dance and once joined her nephews and two younger sisters in performing traditional Filipino folk dance at family reunions. She liked playing mahjong with her siblings and her in-laws. Noyie and Tony also took pleasure during their occasional visits to casinos.
Noyie was known as the “Ninang ng Bayan” ( the “Town Godmother” ) as she would often be asked to be the godmother of most of her nieces and nephews. Because she worked the night shift, Noyie became the unofficial driver to pick up the kids from school. Noyie also was the primary caretaker of their elderly mother for many years until her illness made her unable to do so. Her family, relatives and friends will remember her as a loving, generous, kind and gentle person.
Noyie was preceded in death by their father Rene, her brothers Reynaldo, Cesar Rene, Jr., and her sister Teresita. She was survived by her 100-year-old mother, Natividad; husband, Tony; brothers Rodolfo, Rodrigo and Ricardo; sisters Marissa and Irene; 18 nieces and nephews; and 13 grandnieces and grandnephews.
