Neil Hulshoff

Neil Hulshoff was born with Down's Syndrome and lived a long and very fruitful life. He was a blessing for his family, not only his parents, but also his brothers and sisters, his nieces and nephews, and his grand nieces and nephews. He was instrumental in prompting his parents to get involved with The Exceptional Children's Foundation, a charitable fund-raising group contributing to helping the Mentally Retarded. Because of Neil and his parent's activity with this group, many new programs were developed for the mentally retarded in Southern California. Neil was always a joy to be around. He was happy and made friends with all those he met through the years. Many of his extended family were taught the principles of love by Neil. Because of him, the extended families learned about the disabled and learned great lessons of love. His influence was monumental on those he knew and associated with. He leaves a legacy for those of us left here on Earth. He is now with his parents and Kent, his brother, and I am sure he is having a marvelous reunion with them. He was a faithful member of The LDS church. His family wanted to thank all those, who in their lives and busy schedules took time to care for him and give him their love. He was an easy young man to be around and to enjoy. He was healthy until about a year ago and only recently began to have serious health problems. For all those family members who took care of him through the 25 years since his Dad died, there cannot be enough said to thank them for their care. We will miss Neil and he will always be in our hearts and minds.
