Neda Walton

Neda Stuart Walton, 97, born on January 16, 1929, in Wichita Falls, TX, United States, passed away July 21, 2026. She resided in Monrovia, CA at the time of her passing.

She was a simple country girl with movie-star beauty and a ninth-grade education.

She married at 15 years old. By the age of 19, she had given birth to her three children. Sadly, her three children—Neda Elaine Potter, John Keith Potter, and Ronald Steven Potter—all preceded her in death.

As a child, Grandma was a gifted singer and could memorize poetry, songs, and Bible verses very well. She was known for it across her small Texas community.

She lived a simple life but somehow possessed a great deal of wisdom and good business sense, even as a housewife.

For most of her life, she was prideful, selfish, depressed, bitter, a hypochondriac, and addicted to prescription narcotics. She hurt many people and left many deep wounds. She also helped many people throughout her lifetime.

But God was not finished writing her story.

After her conversion to Christ later in life, Grandma became a softer, kinder, better person who loved to sing and worship the Lord.

During the last months of her life, she was blessed to have her world opened up through Facebook, where new friends came to know her through her worship, singing, and prayers. What became a small ministry brought her great delight and awe. She was deeply grateful for the love, encouragement, and prayers she received from people all over the world.

Even though Grandma had claimed to be dying for most of her life, the Lord blessed her with 97 years. She outlived most of her family, including her three children, two husbands, and three grandchildren.

Her beloved husband of 43 years, Curnie Lee Walton, preceded her in death by 33 years.

She is survived by her eldest granddaughter, Nedalee Thomas-Chaparro, and Nedalee’s husband, Cayetano, who loved and cared for Grandma very much.

She is also survived by her granddaughter, Leah Belcher and her husband, Sam; granddaughter Victoria Blumentritt; grandsons John Michael Potter and Andrew Potter; granddaughter Sarah Elizabeth Potter-O’Rear, three step grandchildren; and many beloved great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

We are thankful for her life, for the lessons we learned from it, and for the redeeming grace of Jesus Christ, which transformed the final chapter of her story.
