Michael Steven Pollard

POLLARD, Michael Steven 1959-2012 Michael Steven Pollard passed away peacefully at his Monrovia home on Memorial Day, May 28, 2012. Mike was born in Lompoc, CA on December 29, 1959. He attended Bradoaks, Clifton, and Monrovia High School. He went on to Citrus College and Long Beach State where he was a Sigma Pi. After college he began his career in information technology with Lacerte Software in Long Beach, a start-up that became hugely successful after a move to Dallas, TX. Returning to Monrovia in 1992 as a tech savvy entrepreneur, Mike opened his company, “Superior Computer Technology”. He was also active in property development. While attending a MHS reunion in 1999, Mike reconnected with former classmate and future wife, Colleen McCrary. They married in 2000. Mike loved sports and was an avid golfer. He seldom missed his long held weekly golf game with the Men’s Club at Arcadia GC. He was a loyal USC fan with a highlight being at the Rose Bowl with his Dad for the 2006 BCS game. Mike had been a Monrovia Rotarian, member of the MHS Mary B. Thorne Alumni Club, and a Board Member of the Santa Anita Family YMCA. To the end he was extremely involved as a coach, manager, and board member with the Santa Anita Little League. Mike is survived by beloved wife Colleen, son Michael Scott (11), and daughter Abriana Cale Anne (3); also by parents Shari and Chuck Pollard of Monrovia; brother Robert Pollard (Janie) of Prosper, TX; sister Denise Walton (Ron) of Glendora, CA; and sister Amy Whoolery (Dan) of Arcadia, CA. He was predeceased by his brother, David Scott Knutson Pollard. — As a loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend to many, he will be greatly missed. Memorial Services will be held Sunday, June 10, at noon. Azusa Greens Country Club 919 W. Sierra Madre Ave. Azusa, CA. In lieu of flowers, contributions would be graciously accepted in his name to the Monrovia Schools Foundation, P.O. Box 2447, Monrovia, CA 91017. Care entrusted to the Douglass & Zook Chapel of Remembrance in Monrovia.
