Maryellen H. Lawrence, 89, passed away on July 10, 2011 in Arcadia, CA. “Polly” was born on June 15, 1922 in Newport News, VA, the eldest child of Henry and Alice Hoot. She is a graduate of Swarthmore High School in Swarthmore, PA and Oberlin College in Ohio with degrees in history and music. Since 1949, she has resided in So. Calif. Polly is survived by daughters Nancy L. Dickson and Susan L. Symes and son Lewis D. Lawrence, Jr. and five grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 22, at 1:30 pm at the First Presbyterian Church of Monrovia, 101 E. Foothill Blvd., Monrovia. Care entrusted to the Douglass & Zook Chapel of Remembrance FH in Monrovia.
