Mary Zapien

January 10, 1925 — August 19, 2016

Mary was born on January 10, 1925 in Salado, Texas. She was the youngest child of Antonio and Fernanda Mendoza. Her brother Luis and sisters, Dolores, Josefina, and Socorro preceded her in death. The family lived in Austin when Mary was in elementary school and then moved to Monterrey Mexico when she was a teenager. As a young woman working in Monterrey, she met her husband Adolfo.
Before her marriage, Mary returned to her home state of Texas to work and then moved to Chicago with her new husband. After one winter there, the couple moved to Los Angeles where their children, Ricardo and Sylvia were born. One of the greatest blessings in Mary's life was her grandsons, David, Joseph, and John.
Mary was a member of Immaculate Conception parish and participated in many activities at the Monrovia Community Center where she made many friends. She was a wonderful woman who expressed her love of God with the care and kindness she showed to those around her.
