Martin Pack

October 12, 1954 — July 13, 2023

Martin Anthony Pack, beloved partner, brother, uncle and friend, suddenly passed on July 13, 2023, of natural causes at age 68.

Martin was born in Detroit, Michigan, to Sandra and Martin Pack on October 12, 1954. He graduated from Wayne State University with a degree in Fine Arts focused on drawing and textiles and completed post-graduate studies in Painting and Textile Design in Lodz, Poland.  As the founder and owner of the design company Atelier 1400 in Detroit, he was the creator of numerous exhibits, installations and publications. Fostering his interest in Polish culture and dance, he also served as leader and choreographer of Polish folkdance troupes in Michigan and Canada.

Retired from a 25-year career as Creative and Visual Director at Neiman Marcus, Martin continued to follow his lifelong passion in the creative arts, collecting mid-century paintings, glass and pottery, which was further enriched during his many years as a resident of Palm Springs, California. Most recently he was an instructor at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM) in Los Angeles.

Martin is survived by his partner of 25 years, Mario Apodaca, sister, Mary Pack and brother-in law, Phillip Fishman; sister, Debrah Forester; nephew, Samuel Fishman and wife Morgan Gerard; nephew, Lucas Fishman and wife Kimberly Laney; niece, Sarah Brutman; and niece, Rebecca Bridgewater and husband Charles. He was preceded by his parents and sister, Sandra Brutman.

A celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at 10:30am in the Tribute Center at Forest Lawn, 21300 Via Verde Dr., Covina, California 91724.
