Mark James Simone

Born, February 12, 1952 in Pasadena, California to Paul and June Simone. The family lived in Lincoln Heights at first, then moved to San Gabriel, where he went to school and graduated from Temple City High. During his growing up years, he and his younger brother were very close, and at times were a little mischievous. A creative person, he had his own company, Metals in Motion, in which he designed balancing figures of metal. At one time, he and his older brother owned a limousine company. After that he went into swap meets. He became a miniature hoarder. At the end, he had a garage full of almost two of everything. Mark loved boating, water skiing, fishing, camping, birds and being a biker. He joined a bike club and was very active in their events and rides. In 1987, he was hired by the City of Glendale as an Equipment Service Worker. After 5 years, he was appointed as a C.S.O. Custody Officer where he retired in 2006. During his time as a custody officer, his co-workers were influenced by the way he worked, his making people feel better after talking to him, his great smile, being so helpful, his imagination and his attitude. For what ever reason, Mark acquired the nickname “Sparkey” as a custody officer. Mark will be missed by his family and oh so many friends.
