Marjorie Carol Miller, 85, of Sierra Madre, CA, passed away on January 19th, 2025, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was surrounded by her husband and her daughters.
Marge was born on March 9, 1939, in Kerkhoven, MN, to Henry and Rena (Negen) Buss. She had one sister, Marion, and two brothers, Ken and Tom. Marge grew up in the tight-knit community of Renville, MN, where she developed a deep love for music—a passion that would stay with her throughout her life. She began playing the piano at a young age, and by the time she entered high school, she was already playing the organ at her local church. Her strong Christian faith and her musical talent would continue to enrich her life and the lives of those around her for many years.
In 1959, Marge married Curtis Allen Dalien in Willmar, MN. Together they raised six children—Tim, Carol, Mary, Barbara, Donna, and David. They were married for 18 years until Curt’s sudden passing from a brain aneurysm in 1977.
In 1979, Marge married Curtis Allen Miller, and together they had two more children, Annie and Erin. Marge and Curt shared 46 years of marriage and joyfully welcomed many grandchildren and great-grandchildren into their lives.
Marge’s greatest pride was always her family and she was deeply devoted to her husband Curt. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a gift for making people laugh. Marge was a fantastic cook and was known for her amazing lemon cream pie. She was a gifted seamstress as well and she was an avid knitter, teaching all of her daughters to knit. She knit countless washcloths over the years and always had one on hand to give away. She loved music, babies, crossword puzzles, Peanut M&Ms, lipstick, Dr. Phil, and strong dark coffee—with LOTS of whipped cream. Above all, she had an unshakable love for those closest to her.
Marge’s love of God, family, music and service to others were the cornerstones of her life. She instilled a deep faith and love of the Lord in her children, which they are forever grateful for. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her warmth, kindness, and infectious laughter will forever be remembered.
She is survived by her husband, Curtis Miller; her eight children, Tim (Mary) Dalien, Carol (Jeff) Huston, Mary (Bill) Aaron, Barbara (Al) Hays, Donna (Jon) Weatherly, David (Karen) Miller, Annie (Trisha) Miller, and Erin Miller; her 18 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; and her brothers, Ken (Marlys) Buss and Tom (Thelma) Buss.
Marge was preceded in death by her first husband, Curtis Dalien; her parents, Henry and Rena Buss; and her sister, Marion Bohlsen.
Marge will be laid to rest on February 22, 2025 at a private ceremony at Pioneer Cemetery in Sierra Madre, California. Following the ceremony, a memorial service will be held at La Canada Presbyterian Church.
Marge’s warmth, smile, humor, and love will be deeply missed, but the legacy of her kindness and laughter will live on in her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
