Marie Bruno

Marie Bruno, 85, born on September 21, 1937, in Los Angeles, CA, United States, passed away March 20, 2023. She resided in Monrovia, CA at the time of her passing. Arrangements are under the care of Douglass & Zook Funeral and Cremation Services, Monrovia, CA.

Marie's mother's name was Bernice Manelli and father Marcus Giovanazi. She had 1 brother, James Giovanazi. Marie grew up in Los Angeles CA and graduated from Cal State LA. She met her husband, John Joseph Bruno at a birthday party and married on June 25th, 1960. She gave birth to her first daughter Claire Marie Bruno in 1961, with 3 other daughters that followed, Christina Lenore, Michele Joanne and Jacqueline Marie.

Marie and John raised their children in San Gabriel CA, and were devoted Catholics attending St Luke's Church in Temple City CA.  Marie was always faithful and giving to the church with both her time and finances. She served as a grief counselor and regularly participated in activities going on within the church. Marie also worked at Rosemead Elementary School as a Teacher's Aide for 30 years where she retired. Marie and John were also long time contributors to Meals on Wheels delivering food to the sick and elderly. Marie was very social and it came easy to her to spread love to everyone she came in contact with.

In the late eighties, John and Marie moved from San Gabriel to Monrovia CA, and began their empty nest and devotion to their new parish, Immaculate Conception Church.  They spent their time volunteering in many church activities and community events.  Marie loved to travel and was blessed to be able to visit many places in the world. Marie had many friends and their house was always open for parties and family gatherings where she was able to exhibit her passion for cooking and entertaining.  

Marie had 7 grand children, Jessica, Raquelle, Stephanie, Sarah, Jonathan, Desiree and Michael, and 5 great grand children Julie, Dimitri, Hayley, Vesper and Evan. Later on in life Marie learned of a nephew she had that she was not aware of and was so excited to learn of this, his name is John Giovanazi.
