Margaret Sring Kim

July 23, 1938 — June 28, 2019

Margaret Sring Kim, 80, passed away on Friday, June 28, 2019, at Emanate Health Queen of the Valley Hospital in West Covina, California. She was the widow of the late Suon Tun.

Born on July 23, 1938 in Takeo, Cambodia she was the only daughter of the late Voung Kim and Soum Plong. She attended primary through high school and continued her education to become a registered nurse. She then became certified as a midwife, and traveled all throughout Cambodia delivering babies.

She immigrated to the United States of America in 1980 as a refugee during the time of the Cambodian genocide by the Khmer Rouge with her family, hopeful for a new life of opportunity. While a United States Citizen, she worked in electronic assembly in Danbury, Connecticut and ran her own donut shop in California until she retired.

She made many contributions to Khmer Buddhist temples in the U.S. and donated to help families and build schools in Cambodia. She enjoyed going to the casino, watching TLC Network shows, traveling in the U.S. to visit her children and FaceTiming her grandchildren. She will be remembered for her big smile, relentless, smart mouth, the way she would sniff and kiss her loved ones' faces, and her selfless way of always taking care of everyone around her.

She is survived by her children, Channareth Tun & Gregory Churchill of Arcadia, California, Bunrith & Samantha Tun of Vacaville, California, Samrach & Bopha Tun of Lynnwood, Washington, Sivkun Tun & Rady Chheng of Elk Grove, California, Pagnarath Tun & Jeffrey Todd of Southbury, Connecticut, Narin Tun & Sreykea Chan of Newington, Connecticut, Marcy Tun, of Citrus Heights, California, her 20 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her two sons, Narah and Sovan Tun.
