Kenneth W. O’Neal, 65, Financial Executive Kenneth Wesley O’Neal, chief financial officer of Nancy Bond Insurance Services of Monrovia, California, and a long-time certified public accountant, died on December 12, one day after his 65th birthday. He lived in Monrovia and had part-time residences in Carlsbad, California, and Goodyear, Arizona. Mr. O’Neal died of kidney cancer. He was born in 1945 in Oceanside and was raised in Monterey Park and Alhambra. He attended Mark Keppel High school and played football. Mr. O’Neal served in the Army as a stevedore from 1966 to 1972. He graduated from Woodbury University with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. Mr. O’Neal entered the accounting profession and worked with Jerry Kastner CPAs in South Pasadena. He became the controller of several companies, earning the nicknames of “Dr. O” and “Bean Counter.” In 1998 he married Nancy Bond and agreed to become chief financial officer of the insurance agency that bears her name. The O’Neals purchased a Craftsman house on Lemon Street in Monrovia and converted it into the new headquarters of Nancy Bond Insurance. Mr. O’Neal’s recreational pursuits included golf, camping and fishing. His motto was “Don’t postpone joy.” His wife, Nancy, described him as “the most generous person I have ever met.” In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter Kerry Gibson of Lake Forest, California; step children Jennifer Bond of Ft. Collins, Colorado; and Andrew Bond of Loveland, Colorado; father Donald W. O’Neal of Lake Isabella, California; sisters Janice Bassett and Jackie Baldry, both of Polson, Montana; a sister Cathleen Tramutolo of Bishop, California; and a brother Michael O’Neal of Emmet, Idaho. He had three grandchildren. Memorial services will be held on January 15, 11:30 a.m., at Douglass & Zook Chapel of Remembrance., 600 E. Foothill Blvd., Monrovia. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Evangelical Lutheran Educational Assn. Ken O’Neal School Scholarship Fund, 500 N. Estrella Parkway, Suite B-2, Goodyear, Arizona, 85338.
