Kenneth Lemoyne Lanning

LANNING - Kenneth Lemoyne, 87, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2010 of natural causes. Ken was born in Pasadena, CA on January 25, 1923. His early years were spent in Pasadena schools where he began his life-long love of playing drums, moving on to piano, organ and guitar. He enlisted in the Army at the start of WWII and, in addition to driving a truck, was a drummer with the base band and the bugler for his company. Upon returning home he formed his own band and in 1946 met and married his wife, Ethel. Along came two daughters, Nancy and Cheryl. Despite the lack of a high school diploma, over the next 15 years Ken worked up into management at several technology companies. He started his own business working part-time evenings at home and it eventually turned into a successful full time business lasting over 30 years. He was also an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Monrovia for over 50 years. Ken’s final two years were spent at the Country Villa Nursing Home in Arcadia with a full schedule of musical concerts that entertained patients and staff alike. He was affectionately called the “Music Man”. Ken is survived by his two daughters Nancy and Cheryl, two grandsons Donald and Kenneth, and a great-grandson Kyle. The funeral will be held on Thursday Sept. 2 at 10:00 AM with an open casket viewing at 9:30 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church at 997 E. Walnut in Pasadena, Ca . There will be a reception at the church following the service. The Interment will be at 1:00 PM at Oakdale Memorial Park on 1401 S. Grand Ave. in Glendora, Ca.
