Kelsey Joseph Foutz, 72, on January 23, 2020, passed away peacefully in his home after a long and difficult battle with cancer. He was born on January 27, 1947 in San Diego, California. He was the oldest of the 7 children raised by Hugh and Burma Foutz. He spent the first years of his childhood in Bakersfield, CA and at about the age of 6 moved to Rosemead, CA where he lived the rest of his youth. He graduated from Rosemead High School in 1964 at the age of 17. After high school he moved to Provo, Utah to attend Brigham Young University. In 1967 he joined the Navy Reserve and 2 years later was stationed in Hawaii. It was there he met his lovely wife Karen Ann Letterman. They were married in the Laie, HI LDS Temple on June 5, 1971. They moved back to Utah shortly after where their first son was born. They moved to El Monte, CA in 1973 where they lived until Kelsey's passing. They went on to have 6 more children. Kelsey had many jobs over the years including, freight thrower, boiler factory worker, accountant, and kitchen designer. He was also a Navy reservist for 20 years. His hobbies included golfing, fishing, hunting, camping, Dodger baseball, collecting, being a reenactor for the Mormon Battalion, and an avid book reader, often reading more than 1 book at a time. He was a faithful and active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved his family and his country. He is survived by his wife, Karen Ann Foutz, children: Ken (Anna) Foutz, Kristi Foutz (Jason Newlin), Kevin (Dawn) Foutz, Kyle (Donna) Foutz, Keith (Mindy) Foutz, Kimberly (Luis) Carrillo, Kellyann (Danny) Pacheco. 5 siblings, and 22 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Burma Foutz, brother Richard Foutz, and in-laws Kenneth and Trudy Letterman. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 11338 Fairview St., El Monte, CA 91732. A graveside service will be held at 9:45 AM on Monday, February 10, 2020 at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd., Riverside, CA 92518. Arrangements are under the direction of Douglass & Zook Funeral and Cremation Services, Monrovia, California.
