Joseph Patrick Budge

March 19, 1933 — April 6, 2021

Devoted husband and father, Joseph "Joe" Budge passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 surrounded by loved ones. He was 88 years old.
Joe was born in Quebec, Canada to Lloyd and Marguerite Budge. He was raised on what is now the Kitigan Zibi First Nations Reserve along with his 13 brothers and sisters. In 1957 he married the love of his life, Mary Licari, and the two moved to Pasadena in 1959. They relocated to Arcadia shortly after where they raised their two daughters.
In 1963 Joe became a high rise steelworker and member of Ironworkers Local 433. He spent his career helping build some of Los Angeles' tallest skyscrapers and even participated in the construction of Disneyland's Space Mountain.
Joe was an accomplished pool player, winning prizes and bringing home many trophies in the 1970s. He also enjoyed listening to country music with his family. A lover of nature, he tended to many spring tomato gardens over the years. He was a past member of the Arcadia Elks Lodge.
A modest man and never one to brag, Joe was beloved for his sense of humor, honesty, hard work ethic and generosity. A lifelong Catholic, he believed it was always important to lend a hand to those less fortunate.
Joe is preceded in death by wife Mary, daughter Debra, parents Lloyd and Marguerite, siblings Irene, Kenneth, Raymond, Eleanor, Russell, Albert, Theresa, Edgar, Danny and Patrick. He is survived by daughter Darlene (Joseph) Babros and grandchildren Cameron, Joseph and Milan, siblings Violet, Ervin and Gerry, and countless nieces and nephews.
A Mass celebrating Joe's life will be held at Annunciation Catholic Church, Tuesday, May 11, 2021, 1307 E. Longden Avenue, Arcadia at 11:00 AM. All who were touched by Joe's life are invited to attend.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made in Joe's honor to St. Vincent's Hospice of Pasadena.
