John Stephen Wolever

John Stephen Wolever died at Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center in Torrance on December 25, 2019 at the age of 73 from complications following an accident. John is predeceased by his father, John Frank Wolever. He is survived by his mother and sisters. John is lovingly remembered by his mother, Mildred Wolever of Arcadia; twin sister Paula Neher of Las Cruces, New Mexico; sister Elizabeth (James) Wotherspoon of Fairfield, Iowa; numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews across the country; and friends in Manhattan Beach and Las Vegas, Nevada.

John was born in Pasadena, California in 1946. He graduated from Arcadia High School, Citrus Community College, and the Los Angeles Police Department Academy where he was an expert marksman and graduated second in his class. He served the Los Angeles Police Department from 1968 to 1988. Additionally, John was a veteran of the United States Air Force Reserve.

John enjoyed sports, especially baseball and football, as well as sport fishing, cooking, movies, plays, reading thriller, crime, and mystery novels, and spending time with friends at his favorite restaurant, Pancho's of Manhattan Beach. John also collected art, mainly watercolors of beach scenes. He loved his life, his family, good food, and good friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the donor's charity of choice. Condolences for the family may be offered online at Douglass & Zook, Monrovia, California. A Celebration of Life and burial of his cremains will be held at a later time.
