John Oliver Mccawley

October 18, 1932 — December 25, 2009

John Oliver McCawley was born on October 18, 1932, in St. Louis, MO and passed away on December 25, 2009, at the age of 77 in Arcadia, CA of natural causes. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1955. Rank of Machinist Mate 2nd Class. He served 27 years with the Pasadena Fire Department in Pasadena, CA from 1959 to 1986. Retired as Fire Marshall, rank of Captain II. In 1954, he married Shirley Louise Lockie and they had two wonderful children; John Michael (born 1955-died 1999) and Barbara Lyn (born 1959). Shirley passed away May 10, 2003, at age 68 from pulmonary fibrosis. They were married close to 49 years. He is survived by his daughter, son-in-law, three grandchildren and one great grandaughter. Chapel service will be at 1:00 p.m. On Wednesday, January 13, 2010 @ Douglas & Zook Funeral Home in Monrovia and will followed by a procession to Live Oak Memorial Park in Monrovia. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to be made to any of the following: American Heart Association-American Lung Association-City of Hope.
