John Richard (Dick) Bevan passed away peacefully on January 20, 2016 in his home in Arcadia, CA surrounded by his family. He was 93. Born in Pottsville, PA on February 25, 1922, he was the third of eight children born to Russell Conwell Bevan and Hazel Mae Sheahan. Dick graduated with a degree in Metallurgy from Lehigh University in 1944 and then served in the United States Army. He worked for ALCOA and later Guaranteed Products until his retirement in 1984. He married Lila A. Beyerle, also of Pottsville, PA in 1950. He and Lila have three children, Elizabeth Bevan of San Dimas, CA; Judith Wheeler of Hagerstown, MD and Dennis Patrick Bevan of Thousand Oaks, CA. In his retirement Dick especially loved traveling with his wife, playing golf, bridge and poker, gardening, following sports and was especially beloved by family and friends for his talents and willingness to help in a myriad of home projects.

In addition to his wife of 65 years and his children and their families, he leaves a sister, Diane Agosti of Lake Hauto, PA.

He will be remembered with a mass at St. Rita's Catholic Church in Sierra Madre on February 8, 2016 at 11:00 AM followed by a reception at the church. He will be interred in Cavalry Cemetery in Pottsville, PA later this year. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lehigh University, Bethlehem, PA in his memory.
