Jerry Robert Grant

Jerry Robert Grant of West Covina, CA died peacefully on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 in Duarte, California at the age of 87.  Jerry is preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Rose Grant.  He is also survived by his four children, ten grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. 

Jerry was born on September 28, 1930 in Elk Rapids, Michigan to William and Erma Grant. In 1950, he married Rose Porta in Pasadena, California.  They relocated to West Covina in 1954 after Jerry built the family home together with his father and father-in-law.  Over the course of 35 years, Jerry built a career as a building official for various local municipalities in the area, serving on several state and national committees geared toward better building practices.  Over the next ten years, the couple welcomed four children into their home:  Joseph, James, Mary and Julie.  He provided well for his family and will be missed. 

Jerry was an accomplished woodworker and completed several grandfather and mantle clocks over the years in addition to furniture and other items.  He was a quiet man with an analytical mind and a gentle soul.  Rarely one to speak ill of others, Jerry exemplified integrity, honesty, and self-reliance.  Jerry always finished the jobs he started, and with great attention to detail and precision. 

A funeral mass will be held on Friday, September 7, 2018 at 9:30am at the chapel at Santa Teresita, 1210 Royal Oaks Drive, Duarte, California,  91010.  All are welcome to attend and remember Jerry's life.
