Jerilyn Elizabeth Bartulis

August 22, 1954 — September 15, 2011

Jerilyn Elizabeth Bartulis , of Claremont, CA,  age 56 died at Citrus Valley Hospice on 09.15.11 following a very brave battle with cancer.

Jerilyn was born in San Francisco on Aug 23 1954 to the late Lois and Gerald Davis. Jerilyn graduated from Monrovia High School, and went on to graduate from Citrus College and earned her bachelor degree from Cal Poly San Louis Obispo. While in college, Jerilyn met her husband, Mark Bartulis and married at St. Dorothy’s Catholic church in Glendora.

Both Jerilyn and Mark shared a passion for life. Together they went on numerous trips and loved to be outdoors with friends and family. Jerilyn was a bright, vibrant person who never passed up an opportunity to watch football at Damien High School where her husband played, as well as watch her son, Ryan, at his track meets.

Jerilyn was an advocate for cancer research and education, striving to help make progress by her role as a Cancer Registrar. As a Certified Tumor Registrar, she was responsible for collecting and reviewing data regarding the nature of cancer patients' illnesses for research education.

Jerilyn was a Mom to many, and a friend to many more. She had a gracious heart and giving spirit that will be missed. Her mantra was “life is a journey…enjoy the ride”, and she certainly did.

Jerilyn is survived by her sons Ryan Bartulis and Sven Bockhodlt. She is also survived by  Robert Ower (brother), Billy Ower (brother), Terri Cass (sister), Peggy Newkirk (sister).

Services will be held at Douglass and Zook Mortuary in Monrovia, CA on Friday Oct.7th at 3pm followed by a Celebration of life at her home in Claremont.

When Jerilyn lost her husband to melanoma cancer, she furthered her passion for the education and research to help find a cure. With her help, funds were raised for both UCI Medical Center and for the Melanoma Research Foundation.
