In Loving Memory of James Robert Pontello

James Robert Pontello, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2026, at the age of 86.

James was born on May 5, 1939, in Brooklyn, New York. At the age of eight, he moved with his family to California, the place that would become his lifelong home. After graduating from high school, he proudly served in the Army Reserves. He later earned his Pharm. D. from the University of Southern California, beginning a long and respected career in pharmacy and home health care.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Alma and Bruno Pontello, and by his cherished wife of 47 years, Norma Pontello

A man of faith and service, James was an active member of the Saint Rita’s Men’s Club, his cherished church community, as well as the Rotary Club of Arcadia. His commitment to fellowship, generosity, and civic involvement touched many lives.

He is survived by his three children Robert Pontello, Vincent Pontello and his wife Jannalyn, and Andria Pontello and her husband Tim. James was a proud grandfather to Joshua (and his wife Abigail), Matthew (and his wife Marissa), and Benjamin Pontello. His joy only grew with the arrival of his great‑grandchildren, Daniel and Natalia Pontello, children of Matthew and Marissa. He was also honored to be a grandfather to Halle and James Meyer, Tim’s children, whom he loved dearly

His presence, wisdom, and warmth will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 23, at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Rita Catholic Parish, located at 318 N. Baldwin Avenue, Sierra Madre, California.
