January 25, 1932 — June 29, 2011

James L. Largent passed away peacefully June 29, 2011 with his family by his side after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Jim was born January 25, 1932 in Pasadena, where he lived his entire life. After 2 years in the Navy aboard the subtender, USS Orion, Jim joined the Pasadena Fire Department. He retired as Captain with 27 years of service. He then became the Fire Marshall at the Santa Anita Race Track for 15 years. His lifelong enjoyments included traveling, happy times at Huntington Beach, many trips to the Virgin Islands with family, and many mornings at the World Gym with great friends. Jim was a friend to all. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, who will be missed and always in our hearts. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Dolores (Dee); son Greg (Annette); daughter, Lynn (Bruce) Fetter; 4 grandchildren, Ashley (Patrick) Davis, Blair (Chamonix) Fetter, Marshall and Miller Largent; great grandson, Rhys Fetter; 3 step-grandchildren; sister, Betty Jean (Carl) Saake; brother-in-law, Edward (Annette) Miller, 5 nieces and 1 nephew. Jim was predeceased by his brother, Lee. A special thank you to his caregiver, Charmaine, and the staff at Singing Oaks. A memorial service will be held Friday, August 5, 2011 at 10:00 AM at Fire Station 32, 2424 E. Villa St., Pasadena, CA 91107. In lieu of flowers, donations may be make to “Caps” Alzheimer’s Day Care, Attn: Mimi Brown, 3740 E. Sierra Madre Blvd., Pasadena, CA 91107, or Mission Hospice, 625 Fair Oaks St. Ste. 229, S. Pasadena, CA 91030.
