Hans Sluik passed away peacefully at home on December 28, 2020 at 5:19 PM of natural causes relating to his congestive heart failure and end stage Parkinson's disease with his wife Ruby and daughter Camilla at his side. He was 98 years old.

Hans was the 4th child of 6 born in Parkersburg, Iowa August 26th 1922 at 4:38PM to his mother Trientje Loeveke and father Eise Sluik.
Hans attended 1st through 6th grade in Iowa. He spent the rest of his early years farming with his family. He received his high school diploma June 9th, 1978 from Monrovia High School in California.

Hans met the love of his life Ruby Schuver in their early teens at the Nazarene Youth Center in Iowa at a youth get together. They married May 27, 1945 at the Britt Nazarene Church in Iowa and shortly after moved to California.

Hans enjoyed going to church, raising 2 daughters, 1 granddaughter, 2 great granddaughters, traveling the United States, playing cards with friends, fixing cars and anything else he could get his hands on, taking things apart to see how they worked and renovating different homes they purchased.
Hans started out in California working for the city of Monrovia painting the curbs for parking. He co-owned a company called Power Punch Oil Products with his friend Henry. He ran his own mechanic shop from home for many years. He also enjoyed helping anyone in need.

Hans proudly served his country under the United States Army, Company E 334th Infantry as a combat infantryman and medical aidman in WW2 at the Battle of the Bulge. He served from April 12, 1944 til November 10, 1945. He was wounded in action on Friday December 13th, 1944 in Germany. He was awarded the Purple Heart medal, Good Conduct medal, American Theater ribbon, African Middle Eastern theater ribbon with 2 bronze service stars and a Victory medal.
Hans is survived by his wife of 75 years Ruby, 2 daughters Camilla and Sandra, 1 granddaughter Crystal, and 2 great granddaughters Ashlynn (9 years old) and Paisley (3 years old).
