Frank W. Mossbarger June 30, 1923 ' April 12, 2013 Francis Wilbur Mossbarger, 89 years old, passed away peacefully in Bradbury, CA on April 12, 2013. He was born June 30, 1923 in Mandeville, MO at home to Wilbur Eli Mossbarger and Mary Bernice Shea. Frank spent his childhood on the farm in Mandeville, MO along with his sisters Ellmary (Mossbarger) Wood, Lucille Mossbarger, and Mildred (Mossbarger) Lincoln, who have all preceded him in death. Frank joined the Army Air Corps and served during World War II from June 1942 to August 1945 with the 15th Air Force, 49th Air Wing, 484th Bomb Group, 826th Squadron in Italy which also received a Presidential Unit Citation for outstanding performance of duty in armed conflict with the enemy for destroying the Lobau underground oil storage in Vienna, Austria. He met Helen Catherine Maslo in Chicago, IL while both were working at Stewart Warner. They were married on January 6, 1946 in Chicago and moved to Duarte, CA in 1947. Frank served during the Korean War at Edwards Air Force Base as a Radar Communications Chief from 1950 to 1951. After the war, he was employed by Bank of America for 35 years as a Senior Loan Officer and a Local 280 pari-mutual clerk from 1962 to 1994 and remained a retired member until his death. Dad enjoyed coaching football, bowling and golfing. Frank was a member of the American Legion Post 44 in Monrovia, CA since 1967. He was also a dedicated member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Monrovia, CA and active in the Knights of Columbus and various other functions. Frank is survived by his eight sons, Daniel (Dan) Mossbarger of Duarte, CA, James (Jim) Mossbarger of La Habra, CA, Lawrence (Larry) Mossbarger of Duarte, CA, Theodore (Ted) of Upland, CA, Francis W (Franko) Mossbarger II of Costa Mesa, CA, Anthony (Tony) Mossbarger of Irvine, CA, Jan Mossbarger of Monrovia, CA, and Tim Mossbarger of Lakewood, CA; two daughters, Marcia (Mossbarger) Anderson of Tempe, AZ and Maria (Mossbarger) Richter of Lehigh Acres, FL; 17 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Helen Catherine (Maslo) Mossbarger. The Mossbarger Family would like to express a special thanks to Stacey, Dad's caregiver and all the staff at Bradbury Oaks Manor in Bradbury, CA for their dedicated care and compassion.
