Florence Ethel Ditzen Warren

August 4, 1919 — January 7, 2011

Florence Ethel Ditzenberger Warren, a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, was born 4 August 1919 in Zionsville, Boone County, IN to Gertrude Florence Geyer Ditzenberger and John Franklin Ditzenberger. She is the eldest of 5 children born to the couple and the last surviving child. They were John Emerson Ditzenberger, Martha Elizabeth Ditzenberger, Ruth Jane Ditzenberger Siders, and Henry Lester Ditzenberger. Their mother died shortly after the birth of Henry Lester. The children were raised by relatives. She graduated from East Side High School in Union City, Ohio then worked for a brief time in a local restaurant. She was offered and took a position as a nanny and hired girl on a farm for the Kessler Family and there met and married James Glen Warren, a farmer on December 25, 1938. They began their family of 9 children with the first being born in 1941 and the last in 1956 in Union City, Indiana. She devoted her life to being a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was an avid reader and taught her children to love learning and above all to love one another as taught by Jesus Christ. Tragedy struck when James Glen Warren, Sr. was a fatality in a 2 car collision 18 August 1965. She was left with 3 younger children still at home, 2 daughters in college, and 4 children who had graduated from college and were living and working miles away from Union City, Indiana. She soon took her younger children and moved west to join the Saints and her children who had preceded her after embracing the Gospel of Jesus Christ as taught by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in September of 1966. She is survived by her 9 children and 6 of their spouses who adored her in life and honor her in death: Jeanie Warren Claghorn of Clearfield, Utah whose husband, David Alan Claghorn is deceased, James Glen Warren, Jr. of Fontana, California, Florence May Warren Draper and her husband Scott Draper of Glendale, California, Nancy Jane Warren Villarreal and her husband Fernando Villarreal of Fontana, California, Blanche Marie Warren Peterson whose husband Christopher Nels Peterson is deceased of Provo, Utah, Carol Sue Warren Persson and husband Sheldon Lynn Persson of Riverside, California, Rose Mary Warren Pease and her husband George Lewis Pease of Eagle Mountain, Utah, John Henry Warren and his wife Letitia Mae Hyden Warren of Ukiah, California, Daniel David Warren and his wife Kathleen Anne Chalk Warren of San Diego, California, 46 grandchildren with 20 spouses and 50 great grandchildren. The last few years of her life were spent living with her daughters: Jeanie Claghorn then Rose Pease and enjoying her grandchildren and great grandchildren in Utah. She passed away Friday, 7 January 2011 while on vacation in Orange County, California in Mission Hospital, Mission Viejo after suffering a myocardial infarction. Her funeral will be held in the Alhambra Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on Saturday, 15 January 2011 at 11:00 A.M. Viewing will be at 10:00 A.M. She will be missed and bereaved by her family and by the many who knew her and of her sweetness and devotion to her family, church, and country and her countless acts of unselfish service throughout her life.
