Ferne Lorraine Petrie

Ferne Lorraine (Cox) Petrie was born January 26, 1930 in Port Washington, New York and passed away on October 19, 2021 in Sierra Madre, CA peacefully her sleep. She was 91 years old. She was an amazing person, full of fun and a wonderful love of life. She outlived all three of her husbands, Phil Cox, Bob Brandes and Lou Petrie. Ferne is survived by her children Barry Cox and Laine Byrum, 3 grandchildren Elizabeth Lofstedt, Leah Cox and Cady Cox and 1 great grandchild Madison Lofstedt. She was very active in many organizations such as Quota Club in Monrovia where she lived most of her life. Ferne and Lou opened their house many times to foreign exchange students and loved the experience. She moved to the island of Kauai for about 7 years with her husband Lou Petrie where they enjoyed a wonderful retirement. Ferne and Lou traveled extensively all over the world and enjoyed life to its fullest. She will be remembered for her generous spirit, her wonderful laugh and love for others in her life. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Ferne's favorite causes – Wounded Warrior and Sheldrick Wildlife Trust for Elephants.Arrangements are under the direction of Douglass & Zook Funeral and Cremation Services, Monrovia, California. There will be a service at St. Rita's Catholic Church In Sierra Madre on November 19, 2021 at 10:00 am followed by a luncheon at the Bella Sera Restaurant rear patio in Monrovia on Myrtle Avenue.
