Eula Jean Owens

Eula Jean Owens, 95, born on December 28, 1925, in The Village of Glidden in Carroll County IA, United States, passed away November 5, 2021. She resided in Monrovia, CA at the time of her passing. She is survived by her husband Glen Owens and her two daughters, Jo Kathleen Thirloway and Patricia Kelly Vela and son in-law Gilbert Vela. Jean enjoyed their cabin at Chantry Flats which they had for many decades. She and her husband loved animals and had several horse ranches.
She was born Betty Eileen Torneby, her mother passed shortly after she was born and her father put all the children up for adoption. She was adopted on March 6, 1933 by the Rev. John Magnussen and his wife, from the Lutheran Children's Home. At that time her name was changed to Eula Jean. In her forties she found her natural brothers and sisters. She was able to spend time with them to get to know them and their families.
She was a strong kind woman that battled cancer and won a couple bouts. Her favorite pastimes were Facebook, monopoly, scrabble and playing the lottery. With the exception of scoliosis, she remained active and relatively pain free.
