Emerita Taico

August 20, 1935 — January 22, 2026

Born in Peru, Emerita was one of seven siblings and from an early age showed a bold spirit and a deep devotion to family. She pursued higher education as a way to ignite her path to success, believing deeply in the power of learning and determination. With courage and selflessness, she made the brave decision to come to the United States to create a better life not only for herself and her daughter, but also for her parents and siblings. She forged a path for her entire family to follow, consistently placing their well-being before her own.

As a single mother, she raised both Mirella and her younger daughter Erica with strength, resilience and unwavering love. She was a proud grandmother to five grandchildren and was blessed to witness a new generation with three great grandchildren.

Adventurous at heart, she lived life boldly and out loud. She owned businesses and traveled the world visiting places such as China, Jerusalem, Spain, Chile and Thailand, embracing new places with curiosity and confidence. Wherever she went she carried herself with intention and pride holding herself to high standards in how she moved through the world. Her presence was always polished and thoughtful from the way she stood to the way she dressed, choosing elegance not for attention but as a reflection of who she was.

A woman of strong faith, she trusted deeply in God’s promises for her life and for the generations that would follow. She prayed daily for the well-being of those around her carrying their names and needs in her heart.

A steady rock for her family and closest friends, she leaves behind a legacy of courage, faith and selfless love. She will be missed deeply and remembered always.

“The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you. He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid do not be discouraged.” Deuteronomy 31:8
