Elton Lawrence Collins Jr. was born on March 11, 1960 at Monrovia Hospital, to Elinor Sanders and Elton Collins Sr. Elton Jr. attended Duarte High School before deciding to aid with the family business Collins and Sons Rubbish. Elton Jr. joined the marines and served from 1978 to 1984, while there he acquired a rifle marksmen badge before being discharged.
Elton Jr. took pleasure in knowing the community of Monrovia and Duarte and acquired the nicknames of “Cooley” and “Cuddy” amongst friends and family. Elton Jr. would ride his bike, motor scooter, walk or ride with loved ones to check in with everyone in his spare time. Elton Jr.’s life was not reflective of his smile and laughter. Elton Jr. lived his life with an appetite for food, deserts and barbecue specifically, and the desire to protect his loved ones. He was said to police his community where he lived in Bell, greeting others as they came and went like security. Elton Jr. enjoyed reminiscing about the old days, listening to music, and being carefree and without responsibility.
Elton Jr. had sibling quarrels with both his younger sisters and got on their nerves as expected, however he was closest to his “baby girl” Kim. Elton Jr. took enjoyment in looking after his beloved father and caring for his landscape before his father’s relocation out of state. Elton Jr. spent his last days with his VA community reassuring everyone there that he was okay. Elton Jr. passed away naturally due to known medical conditions.
Elton Jr. was preceded in death by his beloved mother Elinor Sanders, grandparents Hartwell and Mattie B. Collins, and great nephew Dyllan Brown. Elton Jr. leaves his father Elton Collins Sr. (stepmother Julia D. Sims-Collins), sister Kelly Chester (brother-in-law Esley Chester), sister Kim Collins Lewis (brother-in-law Gregory Lewis), nephew Jerome Davis, nieces: Shanice Brown (Dayvon Brown) and Jasmine Davis, great nephews Dallas and Deshon Brown, and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, friends, and VA community neighbors to mourn.
