Edward Owens McGinnis, 86, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 9, 2009 surrounded by his family. He was born in Blackfoot, Idaho to Ross and Mary McGinnis. He served faithfully in the United States Marines during World War II and was wounded in combat in Okinawa, Japan and awarded the purple heart, he was dedicated to his country and was a proud Marine. Edward was a Racing fan, and loved the Irwindale Speedway. He also loved Model A’s and was a member of the Santa Anita A’s. He had a great love for his family, especially his grandchildren. He was very generous with his time, and his talents in construction. He was retired from Los Angeles Parks and Recreation. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Edward enjoyed his time at their summer cottage in Vernal, Utah. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Ann, His devoted children; William (Vicki) McGinnis, Kevin McGinnis, Timothy McGinnis, Beth (Craig) Stogner, and Deidre (Michael) Durrant. Two brothers, John McGinnis, and Cecil McGinnis, with 14 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. He also leaves behind 4 little companions; Chica, Blazer, Fibi and Panther. Funeral Services will be Wednesday 11:00am held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Arcadia Ward, Foothill building. Viewing will be 1 hour prior to services in the church.
