Edward Knoop, III

Edward Knoop, III, 84, born on July 28, 1941, in Columbus, OH, United States, passed away May 14, 2026. He resided in Monrovia, CA at the time of his passing. Ed’s greatest joy was his family. Ed is survived by his wife Judy of 59 years, daughter Kris Boneman and her husband Marc, daughter Laura Knoop Sengupta and her husband Maitreya, son Brian Knoop and his wife Jamie, and his daughter Carrie Kennea and her husband Jamie. He was proud of his 9 grandchildren: Mathew, Kathleen, Kiran, Kalin, Oliver, Ishaan, Henry, Keegan, and Maxwell. At 84 he loved to tell everyone he was the luckiest man in the world to have such wonderful family and friends. 

Ed graduated from Youngstown University in 1966 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He was the President and a founding member of the Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity. In 1966 he joined the Air Force serving in Okinawa as an Administrative Officer where he was selected to represent the United States Security Service Command as the Outstanding Junior Grade Administrative Officer at the Air Force Level. He retired from the Air Force as a Captain where he was honored with an Air Force Commendation Medal.

Returning to the states Ed and his family lived in Bay Village, Ohio. He worked in Jones & Laughlin Steel Corporation.

Ed and his family moved from Ohio to Monrovia in 1976. He worked at the Miller Brewing Company from 1976 to 1995 as a Maintenance Supervisor.

Ed celebrated over 30 years of retirement, enjoying every moment. Ed enjoyed sailing, water skiing, restoring hot rods, traveling, playing cards with friends, reading on his kindle, lunch with the ROMEOs (Retired Old Men Eating Out), and sharing time with family friends.
